Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh formally inaugurated the Mudh-Nyoma Air Force Station on November 12, 2025, landing at the base on a C-130J aircraft. He was accompanied by Air Marshal Jeetendra Mishra of the Western Air Command.

The airbase, the world's highest operational fighter base at 13,700 feet, was built under Project Himank at a cost of ₹230 crore. Its 2.7-km runway can handle C-17, IL-76, Su-30MKI, Rafale, and MiG-29UPG aircraft. The base gives India a significant strategic advantage along the LAC with China in eastern Ladakh.
