Rajasthan Governor Haribhau Bagde appointed Rajeshwar Singh as the new Chief State Election Commissioner (SEC) of Rajasthan on September 17, 2025, succeeding Madhukar Gupta. Rajeshwar Singh is a retired IAS officer with a distinguished 35-year career in public administration.

As SEC, he will oversee the State Election Commission's constitutional role under Article 243K for Panchayat elections and Article 243ZA for municipal elections across Rajasthan's three-tier system — Zila Parishads, Panchayat Samitis, and Gram Panchayats. The appointment comes ahead of scheduled panchayat elections in the state.
