INS Sudarshini, the Indian Navy's indigenous sail training ship built by Goa Shipyard Limited and based in Kochi, embarked on 'Lokayan 26' — a 10-month voyage covering 22,000 nautical miles across 18 ports in 13 countries. Commissioned on January 27, 2012, the three-masted barque has a 20-day continuous operation capability.

Lokayan 26 aims to strengthen maritime diplomacy, train young naval officers in traditional seamanship, and showcase India's shipbuilding capability. The voyage underscores India's SAGAR (Security and Growth for All in the Region) doctrine and Indo-Pacific engagement. Ports of call include Colombo, Muscat, Djibouti, Dar es Salaam, and Cape Town.
