The Viksit Bharat — Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) (VB-G RAM G) Bill, 2025 was introduced in Lok Sabha on December 16, seeking to replace MGNREGA. It guarantees 125 days of wage employment per rural household, up from 100 days. The Bill focuses on four thematic domains: water security, rural infrastructure, livelihood-related infrastructure, and mitigation of extreme weather events. Total annual outlay is estimated at ₹1.51 lakh crore with 60:40 Centre-State cost sharing. Administrative expenditure ceiling is raised from 6% to 9%. An aggregated 60-day no-work period ensures agricultural labour availability during peak seasons. The Bill was passed by both Houses and received Presidential assent.
