Indian Navy Receives INS Taragiri — Fourth Nilgiri-Class Stealth Frigate Under Project 17A
The Indian Navy received INS Taragiri on November 28, 2025 at Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDL) in Mumbai. It is the fourth Nilgiri-class (Project 17A) indigenous advanced stealth frigate and represents a major milestone in self-reliance in warship design and construction.
Key facts: built in 81 months (vs 93 months for the first ship INS Nilgiri), features 75% indigenous content, involved over 200 MSMEs, generated approximately 4,000 direct and 10,000 indirect jobs.
