The Indian Army's Western Command conducted 82 Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) missions under Operation Rahat across Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu & Kashmir by September 9, 2025. Over 6,000 people were evacuated, medical aid provided to 13,000 citizens, and 48 tonnes of essential supplies delivered.

The operations deployed 59 Army columns including 17 Engineer Task Forces. Army Aviation and Air Force assets — 3 ALH, 6 Mi-17, 6 Cheetah helicopters and 1 Chinook — flew over 250 hours of sorties. Among those rescued were 300 paramilitary personnel. PM Modi visited flood-affected Punjab and announced approximately ₹1,600 crore in relief.
