The State of Finance for Forests (SFF) 2025 report revealed that global forest investments must triple by 2030 to meet climate goals. Only $84 billion was invested in forests globally in 2023, of which 91% was public and merely 9% private. The required amount is $300 billion annually by 2030.

Environmentally damaging agricultural subsidies reached a staggering $406 billion in 2023, far exceeding forest investment. India's forest cover stands at 7,15,343 sq km (21.76% of geographic area), with Rajasthan having 16,548.21 sq km (4.84% of state area) under forest cover, including the Aravalli hills and Thar Desert's fragile ecosystems.
