The Defence Acquisition Council (DAC), chaired by Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, approved procurement proposals worth ₹79,000 crore for the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force. The acquisitions include loiter munition systems, advanced naval tugs, fighter jet simulators, and next-generation surveillance equipment.

The DAC also approved the purchase of indigenous defence platforms under the 'Make in India' category, ensuring over 60% of the total procurement value is sourced from Indian defence firms. India's defence production crossed ₹1.27 lakh crore in FY 2024-25, with defence exports reaching ₹21,083 crore. The large-scale approvals align with India's goal of becoming a net defence exporter by 2029.
