Prime Minister Modi laid the foundation stone of the Mahi Banswara Rajasthan Atomic Power Project (4 x 700 MW) on September 25, 2025, at Banswara. The ₹42,000 crore project, spread over 1,366 acres, will have 2,800 MW total capacity using four indigenous 700 MWe Pressurised Heavy Water Reactors (PHWRs) designed by NPCIL. Completion is expected by 2036.

The project is part of India's fleet mode initiative to build ten identical 700 MWe reactors nationwide. PM Modi also inaugurated projects worth ₹1,22,100 crore from Rajasthan and flagged off three new train services including Bikaner-Delhi and Jodhpur-Delhi Vande Bharat Express.
