India and Australia signed a bilateral security agreement on October 9, 2025, establishing a forum for joint staff talks between their militaries and submarine rescue cooperation. The agreement deepens the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two nations.

The agreement covers joint military exercises, maritime security coordination in the Indo-Pacific, intelligence sharing, and defence technology collaboration. Both nations reaffirmed their commitment to a free, open, and rules-based Indo-Pacific. Rajasthan's Pokhran and Mahajan firing ranges have been venues for joint training with allied nations, strengthening India's bilateral defence ties.
