The Indian Air Force operationalised the Mudh-Nyoma Air Force Station in Eastern Ladakh by November 1, 2025, making it the world's highest operational fighter base at 13,700 feet (4,200 m) above sea level. The base, built under Project Himank with a budget of ₹230 crore, is situated near the Line of Actual Control with China.

The 2.7-km runway can accommodate heavy transport aircraft like C-17 Globemaster III and IL-76, as well as frontline fighter jets including Su-30MKI, Rafale, and MiG-29UPG. The base significantly enhances India's air mobility and quick response capability along the sensitive LAC. IAF Chief Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh formally inaugurated the base on November 12.
