National Nutrition Week (NNW) 2025 commenced on September 1, observed annually from September 1-7 since 1982. The 2025 theme is 'Eat Right for a Better Life,' organised by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and the Ministry of Women and Child Development. The campaign highlights the importance of consuming seasonal fruits and vegetables, reducing intake of highly processed and junk food, and adopting mindful eating practices.

The week-long initiative targets students, families, and communities across India to promote overall well-being and prevent malnutrition. Activities include awareness drives in schools, community nutrition camps, and public health messaging through Anganwadi centres under the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) scheme. State governments have been directed to organise district-level events focusing on maternal and child nutrition.

India continues to battle high malnutrition rates, with stunting at 35.5% and wasting at 19.3% according to NFHS-5. The National Food Security Act 2013 and the POSHAN Abhiyaan (PM's Overarching Scheme for Holistic Nourishment), launched in 2018, remain the government's primary policy instruments to address nutritional deficiencies. The 2025 NNW campaign also emphasised the link between nutrition and non-communicable diseases like diabetes and cardiovascular conditions, which account for over 60% of deaths in India.
