The Government of India launched the ₹600 crore Kapas Kranti Mission in October 2025 to transform the cotton sector through high-yield and long-staple cotton cultivation. The mission promotes High-Density Plantation (HDP) techniques for higher yield per hectare.

Key components include launch of the Kapas Kisan App connecting farmers directly with procurement centres, training programmes on modern cultivation and pest management, and field demonstrations. The mission covers major cotton-growing states including Maharashtra, Telangana, Gujarat, and Madhya Pradesh, aiming to reduce India's dependence on imported cotton.
