Canadian firm Cameco Corp. signed a C$2.6 billion ($1.9 billion) uranium supply deal with India on March 2, 2026, during Prime Minister Mark Carney's visit to New Delhi. Cameco will supply 22 million pounds of uranium to Indian nuclear reactors from 2027 through 2035.

PM Modi and PM Carney also launched negotiations for the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), targeting $50 billion in bilateral trade by 2030 (up from $9 billion in 2024-25). The visit marked the restoration of diplomatic ties after the 2023 crisis linked to the killing of Khalistan activist Hardeep Singh Nijjar. The two nations also agreed to cooperate on LNG, critical minerals, solar and hydrogen energy.
