Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya announced the first-ever Khelo India Tribal Games (KITG), to be held in Chhattisgarh from March 25 to April 3, 2026, across three cities: Raipur, Jagdalpur, and Sarguja. The Games will feature seven medal sports — athletics, football, hockey, weightlifting, archery, swimming, and wrestling — plus mallakhamb and kabaddi as demonstration sports.

The mascot 'Morveer' reflects Chhattisgarh's tribal identity ('Mor' means 'mine/our own' in Chhattisgarhi; 'Veer' means brave). KITG aims to identify talented youth from tribal communities early and integrate them into the national sports framework. The event is jointly managed by the Ministry of Youth Affairs, SAI, IOA, and Chhattisgarh state organising committee.
