The Vadhavan Port project in Palghar district, Maharashtra — 140 km north of Mumbai — was highlighted in current affairs discussions with a total investment of ₹76,220 crore and scheduled completion by 2034. The port will have a capacity of 298 million metric tonnes annually and 23.2 million TEU container capacity.

The port benefits from a natural depth of 20 metres, eliminating the need for extensive dredging. It will feature 9 container terminals across 1,448 hectares of reclaimed land. Vadhavan is conceived as India's gateway port on the western coast, complementing JNPT, and is expected to generate lakhs of direct and indirect jobs. It will be a key node in the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC).
