Meaning and Scope of Organisation

Organisation in physical education means arranging people, facilities, time, money and rules so that planned physical activities run safely and regularly. In a school or college, it converts the aims of physical education into a working programme: class periods, games practice, fitness testing, house competitions, annual sports, equipment issue and student records. Administration is the wider process of planning, directing, coordinating, supervising and evaluating these activities. A good administrator does not merely conduct matches; he or she aligns sport with the timetable, curriculum, age group, budget, safety norms and institutional discipline.

Physical education organisation has both formal and informal parts. The formal side includes the principal, physical education teacher, sports committee, captains, house masters, medical staff and office staff. The informal side includes peer leadership, student enthusiasm, local games culture and community support. For an RSSB PTI paper, the key distinction is that organisation creates the structure, while administration ensures that the structure works. In Rajasthan schools, a PTI may have to adjust the same principles to a rural playground, a limited-equipment government school or a large urban campus.

Exam takeaway: organisation is the arrangement of resources; administration is the process that makes the arrangement achieve educational objectives.
