REET Level 1 vs Level 2 Eligibility and Qualifications
Last updated: July 2026 · No separate REET-2026 notification issued as of 11 July 2026; eligibility is based on the official REET-2024 notification
Quick answer
For REET Level 1, the main routes include at least 50% in Class 12 with a 2-year D.El.Ed or 4-year B.El.Ed. For Level 2, the main routes include graduation with a 2-year D.El.Ed, or at least 50% in graduation or postgraduation with B.Ed. No separate REET-2026 notification had been issued by 11 July 2026, so these qualifications follow the official REET-2024 notification; the next notification will be binding.
Age limits
For the REET eligibility test
- Minimum age: REET-2024 does not state a separate minimum age for the eligibility test
- Maximum age: REET-2024 does not state a separate maximum age for the eligibility test
For RSSB Grade-3 teacher recruitment (after REET)
Teacher-recruitment age limits and category-wise relaxations are set by the relevant RSSB recruitment notice. Do not treat the age rules in an RSSB teacher-recruitment notice as age limits for the REET eligibility test.
- Check the current RSSB notice for age limits and category- or disability-based relaxations.
REET-2024 itself does not state separate minimum or maximum ages for the eligibility test; recruitment rules come from the relevant RSSB notice.

Domicile rules
For appearing in REET
The official REET-2024 notification does not state a separate Rajasthan domicile condition for sitting the test. Check the current cycle notification before applying.
For Rajasthan reservation benefits
Claims for reservation and relaxations in age or qualifying marks are governed by the relevant RSSB recruitment notification and applicable Rajasthan government rules; a REET certificate alone does not decide them.
For RSSB Grade-3 teacher recruitment
Category, area and document conditions at the recruitment stage are set by the current RSSB notification. Candidates from another state should check the category and eligibility specified for them in that notification.
Frequently asked questions
What is the age limit for REET?
The official REET-2024 notification does not specify a separate minimum or maximum age for the eligibility test. The relevant RSSB recruitment notification sets the teacher recruitment age limit separately.
Can a final-year B.Ed student appear for REET?
Yes. The REET-2024 notification allows candidates studying in recognised B.Ed, D.El.Ed and other listed teacher-training courses to sit the test under the relevant qualification route. The deadline for completing the course for teacher recruitment is governed separately by the recruitment rules.
Is Rajasthan domicile required to appear for REET?
The REET-2024 notification does not state a separate Rajasthan domicile condition for sitting the test. Reservation, age relaxation, category and document rules are set by the later RSSB recruitment notification, so check that notice for the conditions applying to your state and category.
What qualifications are needed for REET Level 1?
REET-2024 lists these Level 1 routes for Classes 1-5: Class 12 with 50% and a 2-year D.El.Ed; Class 12 with 45% and a 2-year D.El.Ed under NCTE 2002 rules; Class 12 with 50% and a 4-year B.El.Ed; Class 12 with 50% and a 2-year diploma in special education; or graduation with a 2-year D.El.Ed. Candidates still studying may sit the test where the notification permits it for that route.
What qualifications are needed for REET Level 2?
The main REET-2024 Level 2 routes for Classes 6-8 are graduation with a 2-year D.El.Ed; 50% in graduation or postgraduation with B.Ed; 45% in graduation with a 1-year B.Ed under NCTE rules; or 50% in Class 12 with a 4-year B.El.Ed or B.A.Ed/B.Sc.Ed. A special-education teacher route is also available with 50% in graduation or postgraduation and B.Ed in special education.
Is CTET equivalent to REET for Rajasthan teacher recruitment?
No. CTET is a central eligibility test conducted by CBSE for central-government-controlled schools. For Rajasthan state government primary and upper-primary teacher recruitment, REET is the state-specific requirement. A CTET pass alone does not substitute for REET in Rajasthan recruitment.
Can I appear for REET multiple times?
The REET-2024 notification does not set a fixed attempt limit. Before sitting a later cycle, check that cycle’s eligibility and debarment conditions. Under the official REET-2024 notification, the qualifying certificate is valid for life.
Are there any relaxations for women or PwD candidates?
Yes. REET-2024 gives a 5% relaxation in the minimum marks required for educational qualifications to SC, ST, OBC, MBC, EWS, candidates with disabilities (PwD), widow or divorced women, and Sahariya candidates. Minimum test qualifying marks are 60%, 55%, 50%, 40% or 36%, according to category.
