The first edition of the Indian Navy's biannual Commanders' Conference for 2026 culminated on April 17, 2026 at Nausena Bhawan in New Delhi after a four-day apex-level meet that began on April 14. Convened by the Chief of Naval Staff and attended by all senior operational and area commanders, the Conference comprehensively reviewed the Navy's operational posture, capability development, and strategic alignment with national security objectives. Deliberations focused on enhancing blue-water capabilities, training, human-resource management, sustainable maintenance, employment of uncrewed systems, operational logistics, and other enablers for combat readiness, with significant attention to swift naval deployments to safeguard India's energy security amid the ongoing West Asia conflict and the convergence of multinational forces in the Indian Ocean Region. The Conference reviewed implementation of an Artificial Intelligence roadmap for pan-Navy solutions and examined data-driven technologies for seamless operations. The defining outcome was the unveiling of the Indian Navy Maritime Security Strategy (INMSS-2026), a refreshed strategy document that articulates the Navy's plan for maritime domain security, strategic readiness for the coming decade, and the integration of disruptive technologies. The Chief of Defence Staff and the Union Home Secretary interacted with the Commanders during the Conference and emphasised the Navy's pivotal role in protecting national maritime interests in the Indo-Pacific.
