PM Modi Inaugurates Safran Aircraft Engine MRO Facility in Hyderabad — India's First Global MRO Centre
Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually inaugurated Safran Aircraft Engine Services India (SAESI) at the GMR Aerospace and Industrial Park near Hyderabad airport on November 26, 2025. This is India's first deep-level aircraft engine Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) centre established by a global original equipment manufacturer.
The facility was set up by French aerospace major Safran with an initial investment of ₹1,300 crore (US$ 145 million) across 45,000 square metres. It will service LEAP engines powering Airbus A320neo and Boeing 737 MAX aircraft. Once fully operational by 2035, it will service up to 300 LEAP engines annually and employ over 1,000 engineers. PM Modi stated that nearly 85% of India's MRO work was previously conducted abroad. A foundation stone for a Safran M88 military engine MRO facility was also laid.
