Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated the Veer Savarkar Sports Complex at Naranpura in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. The complex has been built at a cost of ₹825 crore and is spread over 1.18 lakh square metres. It is India’s largest and most modern sports complex, making it an important recent example of sports infrastructure. It has six functional zones with international-standard facilities for different sports.

For exam preparation, this development is not only a sports update. It also connects with sports infrastructure, urban development and India’s ability to host major sporting events. Such complexes improve training and competition facilities for athletes and help cities attract national and international events. The location fact of Naranpura, Ahmedabad and Gujarat can be asked directly in prelims, while the cost, area and six-zone structure are useful factual points.

The complex is set to host major events including the Asian Aquatics Championships and the World Weightlifting Championships. For RAS/UPSC and other state and central exams, candidates can use it as an example of sports policy, sports infrastructure and India’s event-hosting capacity. For static GK, candidates should also remember that the complex is named after Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, popularly known as Veer Savarkar. In mains-style answers, the key point is that the project represents both a sports facility and urban sports infrastructure for hosting major competitions.
