November 9, 2025 marks the Silver Jubilee (25th Foundation Day) of Uttarakhand, which was carved out of Uttar Pradesh on November 9, 2000, becoming India's 27th state. Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Dehradun to participate in the Silver Jubilee celebrations, launching development projects and unveiling a commemorative postal stamp. The state had organised an extended Foundation Week from November 1–11, 2025, featuring cultural events, folk performances, and exhibitions across major cities including Dehradun, Nainital, and Haridwar. Uttarakhand, also known as 'Devbhoomi' (Land of the Gods), is known for its contributions to water security (source of Ganga and Yamuna), eco-tourism, and mountain warfare (Uttarakhand-based military regiments). The occasion is significant as it reflects 25 years of development of a hill state carved through a democratic demand for separate statehood. This event is relevant for RPSC RAS as Rajasthan too has shared administrative history with U.P.-era governance and reorganisation of states.
