Marking a major milestone under the National Green Hydrogen Mission, ACME Cleantech Solutions Pvt Ltd (ACME Group) signed long-term offtake agreements with two leading Japanese companies at Atal Akshay Urja Bhawan, New Delhi, on 2 July 2026. The deals were signed with IHI Corporation for green ammonia and with Mitsubishi Gas Chemical Company, Inc. (MGC) for green methanol. The National Green Hydrogen Mission, approved in January 2023 with an outlay of Rs 19,744 crore, aims to establish India as a global hub for the production, use and export of green hydrogen and its derivatives. Under the Mission, the Strategic Interventions for Green Hydrogen Transition (SIGHT) programme provides financial support for production through a transparent bidding process conducted by the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI). ACME Group was awarded a production capacity of 3,70,000 tonnes per year (370 KTPA) under SIGHT, which forms the basis of these export-oriented deals. Under the agreement with IHI Corporation, ACME will supply a total of 4,05,000 tonnes per year (405 KTPA) of green ammonia. This arrangement is supported by Japan's Contract for Difference (CfD) scheme for low-carbon ammonia, operated by METI. ACME also signed a 10-year agreement with MGC to supply 1,00,000 tonnes per year (100 KTPA) of green methanol from its Paradeep plant. The methanol project is aligned with global carbon-reduction goals, particularly for the maritime sector, and is designed to meet European Renewable Fuels of Non-Biological Origin (RFNBO) requirements and International Maritime Organization standards for clean maritime fuel. Union Minister Shri Pralhad Joshi welcomed Japan's decision to extend CfD subsidy support to the project.
