On 26 September 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi transferred ₹10,000 each directly into the bank accounts of 75 lakh women in Bihar under the Mukhya Mantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana. The first-stage transfer amounts to ₹7,500 crore. The scheme is aimed at promoting women's empowerment through self-employment and livelihood opportunities. The initial assistance is meant to act as seed capital for starting small businesses and helping women build an independent source of income.

A key design point is that financial assistance is to be provided to one woman from each family in the state. Along with the initial ₹10,000 transfer, the scheme also provides scope for additional financial support of up to ₹2 lakh later, based on the success of the enterprise. For exam preparation, this makes the scheme more than a cash-transfer update: it is linked to women entrepreneurship, direct benefit transfer, livelihood promotion and state-level welfare policy.

For RAS and UPSC-style preparation, prelims questions may focus on the scheme name, state, number of beneficiaries, amount per beneficiary and stated objective. In mains, it can be connected with women's economic empowerment, financial inclusion, self-help-group-linked livelihoods, social-sector expenditure and the role of micro-enterprises in the rural economy. As static GK linkage, it helps understand the broader policy trend of women-focused welfare schemes and direct income support in India.
