The Ayush Export Promotion Council known as AYUSHEXCIL and the Spices Board of India signed a Memorandum of Understanding on 25 May 2026 to strengthen the global promotion of Ayush products and medicinal spices. The MoU was signed in the presence of the Union Minister for Ayush Shri Prataprao Jadhav at New Delhi. The agreement was inked by Dr Anurag Sharma, Chairman of AYUSHEXCIL, and Shri M S Manivannan, Secretary of the Spices Board of India under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. The collaboration aims to integrate India two traditional strengths of Ayurveda and the spice trade by working jointly on export promotion, quality assurance, standardisation, research and innovation and international market development for functional foods, nutraceuticals, herbal extracts and value added Ayurvedic and spice based products. Both organisations will partner on branding initiatives, traceability frameworks, scientific validation, capacity building, Codex Alimentarius engagement and joint participation in international trade fairs and promotional activities. The proposed Spice and Heal initiative is envisaged as a powerful branding campaign positioning India as a global leader in holistic health and natural healing solutions, building on the recognition that turmeric, ginger, cardamom, black pepper, fenugreek and other Indian spices have therapeutic uses recognised in the Ayush systems. The Ayush sector market crossed US dollar 24 billion in 2024 and the Indian spices export industry recorded shipments worth over US dollar 4.5 billion in 2024-25. The MoU is expected to open new avenues for export growth, employment generation, rural development, farmer empowerment and international collaboration, supporting the goal of doubling Ayush exports under the National Ayush Mission and the Heal in India initiative.
