On September 6, 2025, a serious ropeway accident occurred at the Kalika Mata Shaktipeeth temple site in Pavagadh, Panchmahal district, Gujarat. The cable of a cargo ropeway used for carrying construction material snapped, and the trolley fell from the fourth tower at around 3:30 PM. Six people died and four people were injured. The deceased included two liftmen, two construction workers and two others. The passenger ropeway was closed due to bad weather at the time, so the accident was linked to the cargo ropeway rather than the passenger service. Authorities ordered a technical investigation to examine whether the trolley had exceeded its load capacity and whether routine safety inspections had been conducted. For exam preparation, this incident connects disaster management, infrastructure safety and management of religious-tourism sites. Pavagadh is an important pilgrimage location in Gujarat and is associated with the Kalika Mata Shaktipeeth. Construction work at such sites can involve risks linked to height, weather and technical equipment. The case therefore connects with static GK on Panchmahal district of Gujarat, Shaktipeeths and heritage-religious sites, while in governance it offers an example for safety standards, inspection systems and the role of local administration. In prelims, the date, location, type of ropeway and reason for investigation can be asked. In mains, it can be used as a case study on public safety, regulation and risk management.
