Odisha-based deep-tech startup Coratia Technologies signed a contract worth ₹66 crore with the Indian Navy for the supply and maintenance of indigenously built Underwater Remotely Operated Vehicles (UWROVs). This marks the first large-scale deployment of India-built UWROVs in the Indian Navy, supporting 'Make in India' in defence.

The flagship UWROV 'Jalasimha' passed Technology Readiness Level-9 (NASA-based mission framework), clearing trials at more than 1,485 ft depth with over 12 hours of endurance and a top speed of 3 knots. Coratia Technologies, founded by Debendra Pradhan and Biswajit Swain, was incubated at NIT Rourkela's FTBI and had raised ₹17.4 crore in a Pre-Series A round led by MGF Kavachh in July 2025.
