On January 30, 2026, Indian Railways commissioned a record 472.3 route kilometres of Kavach Version 4.0 — the Automatic Train Protection (ATP) system — in a single day across three sections: Vadodara–Virar (344 km) on Western Railway, Tughlakabad Junction–Palwal (35 km) on Northern Railway, and Manpur–Sarmatanr (93.3 km) on East Central Railway.

This is the highest ever route kilometres of Kavach commissioned in a single day as well as in a month, surpassing the previous record of 324 RKm on the Kota–Mathura section. The Vadodara–Virar commissioning is historically significant as Train No. 20907 Dadar–Bhuj Sayajinagri Express became the first Kavach-equipped train to run from Mumbai. Kavach integrates GPS, microprocessors, and radio communication to prevent Signal Passing at Danger (SPAD) and automatically applies brakes to avoid head-on, side, and rear-end collisions. It represents a key upgrade for India's railway safety infrastructure.
