Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated India Maritime Week (IMW) 2025 in Mumbai, a five-day event (October 27-31) organised by the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways in partnership with the Indian Ports Association. The event showcases India's vision for sustainable maritime growth, trade expansion, and blue economy development, drawing participants from over 85 countries.

Shah also distributed state-of-the-art Deep-Sea Fishing Vessels at Mazagon Dock. Key announcements include: Indian seafarers increasing from 1.25 lakh to over 3 lakh, making India a top-three seafaring nation; Vizhinjam Port becoming operational as India's first deep-water international trans-shipment hub; and plans for a new mega port at Vadhavan, Maharashtra to quadruple port capacity.
