With the inauguration of the Noida International Airport at Jewar on March 28, 2026, Uttar Pradesh has surpassed Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Kerala to become the state with the most international airports in India. The state now has five international airports: Lucknow, Varanasi, Ayodhya, Kushinagar, and Jewar.

The Noida International Airport is expected to significantly ease air traffic congestion at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport. The new airport provides direct connectivity to western UP, Agra, and Mathura via the Yamuna Expressway.

The airport's integrated cargo terminal, developed by Air India SATS Airport Services, is designed to support both domestic and international freight. Real estate markets in Greater Noida and surrounding areas have already witnessed significant price appreciation.

Phase-1 will handle 12 million passengers per annum, with the official masterplan scaling to 70 million passengers per year.
