In a later update, the Ministry of Home Affairs issued orders in January 2026 appointing Praveen Kumar as Director General of the Border Security Force (BSF) and Shatrujeet Singh Kapoor as Director General of ITBP.
CISF, with over 1.7 lakh personnel, is responsible for security at major industrial installations, airports, metro networks, nuclear plants, and government buildings across India. ITBP guards the 3,488 km India-China border along the Line of Actual Control from Ladakh to Arunachal Pradesh. Both forces are Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) under the MHA, playing crucial roles in India's internal security architecture.
