Union Home Minister Amit Shah introduced the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) Bill 2026 in the Rajya Sabha on Monday. The bill aims to modernise the governance framework for India's central armed police forces including CRPF, BSF, CISF, ITBP, and SSB.

The proposed legislation seeks to streamline recruitment, improve service conditions, and enhance operational efficiency of the paramilitary forces. It also includes provisions for better welfare measures for personnel and their families, addressing long-standing demands from security forces regarding pay parity and working conditions.
