On September 21, 2025, Rajasthan Chief Minister Shri Bhajanlal Sharma announced that the state government would host a week-long 'GST Savings Festival' from September 22 to September 29, 2025, to spread awareness about the next-generation GST rate cuts that took effect on September 22. The central GST Council had simplified the Goods and Services Tax slab structure into two principal tiers of 5 per cent and 18 per cent, with a special 40 per cent rate applied only to luxury, sin, and demerit goods. The Chief Minister said the rate restructuring would benefit all sections of society including farmers, industries, the middle class, traders and low-income groups, making essential commodities more affordable, increasing consumption, and supporting both consumers and businesses. As part of the festival, the Chief Minister visited key markets in the Mansarovar area of Jaipur to raise awareness among traders and the public, and emphasised that most items now fall under two tax slabs instead of the previous four, simplifying the system for consumers and small businesses alike. He directed public representatives to promote the campaign in their constituencies by engaging with traders and using hoardings, banners, and social media to communicate the benefits. The Chief Minister also encouraged consumers to buy domestically made products during the festive season to support local artisans and entrepreneurs, linking the GST reform with the broader Swadeshi and self-reliant economy narrative. Urban Development and Housing Minister Shri Jhabar Singh Kharra, public representatives, traders and citizens were present during the Chief Minister's market visit. The Rajasthan campaign is part of a nationwide GST Bachat Utsav launched by the Prime Minister on the first day of Navratri to underline savings for consumers.
