The Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission (IPC) and the Uttar Pradesh Pharma Council (UPPPC) signed a memorandum of understanding on 14 July 2026. The agreement was signed during the YEIDA MedTech Investors Meet and Site Visit 2026 at India Expo Mart in Greater Noida. It seeks to strengthen the pharmaceutical and medical-device ecosystem by promoting quality standards, regulatory excellence, innovation and capacity building.

Under the partnership, IPC and UPPPC will work to improve quality standards and regulatory compliance in the drug and medical-device industries. They will promote awareness of the Indian Pharmacopoeia, pharmacovigilance and materiovigilance. The two bodies will also organise joint training programmes, workshops and awareness campaigns for stakeholders. Research, innovation and industry-academia collaboration form another part of the agreed agenda.

The MoU specifically includes support for MSMEs through digital tools for reporting adverse events. It also links patient safety with quality assurance and post-market surveillance initiatives. Together, these activities connect regulatory compliance, skills, reporting and monitoring rather than treating them as separate concerns.

The agreement reflects IPC's stated commitment to advancing high-quality healthcare standards, supporting innovation and strengthening India's regulatory framework. It is also intended to contribute to the development of Uttar Pradesh as a leading centre for pharmaceuticals, medical devices and healthcare technologies. The partnership aims to foster an ecosystem that promotes quality, safety, innovation and global competitiveness.
