Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia announced two new India Post services — Speed Post 24 and Speed Post 48 — on January 10, 2026 at Pichor in Shivpuri district, Madhya Pradesh. The services guarantee delivery within 24 and 48 hours respectively, with full refund if timelines are missed.

Initially rolled out in six cities — Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad — with the goal of nationwide coverage by March 2027. The services are enabled through dedicated processing windows and priority air transmission. This move positions India Post to compete with private courier services and modernise the country's postal infrastructure.
