The Election Commission of India revamped the EVM ballot paper design to improve clarity and readability, with new guidelines including colour photographs of candidates where faces must occupy three-fourths of the photo space for better visibility. The guidelines also mandate a uniform font type for all candidate names and NOTA.

The updated ballot papers will debut in the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections. The redesign addresses long-standing concerns about voter confusion in constituencies with multiple candidates. The ECI aims to make the voting experience more transparent and accessible, particularly for elderly and semi-literate voters in rural areas.
