India reportedly plans to unveil a more than ₹1 trillion (US$10.8 billion) fund aimed at bolstering domestic chipmaking. The proposed fund would provide subsidies for chip design projects, manufacturing equipment, and supply chain development, with launch possible in two to three months, according to people familiar with the matter cited by Business Standard/Bloomberg.

The semiconductor initiative builds on India's existing India Semiconductor Mission and ISM 2.0, which focuses on producing semiconductor equipment and materials, developing full-stack Indian intellectual property, and fortifying supply chains. India's approved semiconductor projects include a fabrication plant in Dholera, Gujarat; ATMP/OSAT units such as Morigaon, Assam and Sanand, Gujarat; and an HCL-Foxconn chip unit near Jewar, Uttar Pradesh.
