A report by the Council on Energy, Environment and Water (CEEW) titled 'Building a Green Economy for Viksit Bharat' highlighted that India cannot achieve its USD 30 trillion economy target by 2047 without mainstreaming women into green value chains. Women's labour force participation currently stands at 41.7% compared to 78.8% for men.

The report found that every 1% increase in gender diversity yields productivity gains of 2.9%. It recommended integrating women into solar manufacturing, electric vehicle assembly, waste management, and sustainable agriculture sectors. The green economy transition could create 35 million new jobs by 2030, but without targeted interventions, women risk being excluded from high-value green employment opportunities.
