World AIDS Day was observed on December 1, 2025 with the theme 'Overcoming disruption, transforming the AIDS response'. The day is dedicated to raising awareness about HIV/AIDS, supporting people living with HIV, and remembering those who have lost their lives to AIDS-related illnesses.

UNAIDS describes the 95-95-95 targets as 2025 testing, treatment and viral-suppression targets: 95% of people living with HIV knowing their status, 95% of people with diagnosed HIV receiving sustained ART, and 95% of people on ART achieving viral suppression. NACO's 2025 HIV estimation report puts India at about 25.61 lakh people living with HIV in 2024. India has also set a goal of attaining HIV control by December 1, 2027, aligned with 95-95-99 targets.
