Defence Minister Rajnath Singh announced that India's defence exports have reached a record ₹25,000 crore, with an ambitious target of ₹50,000 crore in defence exports and ₹3 lakh crore in domestic defence production by 2029. India's defence exports have surged 34-fold over the last 11 years from under ₹1,000 crore.

The announcement was made during Defence Minister Singh's visit to Australia for the inaugural India-Australia Defence Ministers' Dialogue on October 9, 2025. Key agreements signed include an Implementing Arrangement on Mutual Submarine Rescue Support and Cooperation, and progress on operationalising the Australia-India Air-to-Air Refuelling arrangement. Joint Staff Talks were established to progress exercises across all domains. Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) leads India's defence export push with significant orders for helicopters and aircraft.
