The Gujarat Urban Development Mission (GUDM) launched the 'Lake and Air Watch' initiative, a technology-driven environmental monitoring programme combining satellite tracking and real-time sensors across 17 municipal corporations and 152 municipal areas. The satellite-based system will track lake area changes, algae growth, waste accumulation and water quality indicators, while air quality monitoring stations will provide real-time AQI data. With a budget of ₹10 crore, the platform features a centralised digital dashboard displaying maps, trends and automatic alerts if pollution levels rise or lake conditions deteriorate. Data from multiple departments will be consolidated for timely intervention.
