Security forces killed 10 Naxalites, including Central Committee member Modem Balakrishna who carried a ₹1 crore bounty, in an encounter in Gariaband district, Chhattisgarh on September 11, 2025. The operation, over 180 km from Raipur, was a joint effort by CRPF's CoBRA commandos, Chhattisgarh Police, and District Reserve Guard (DRG).

Ten weapons were recovered from the encounter site. The Chhattisgarh Deputy CM hailed the operation as a major blow to the Maoist insurgency. A later February 2026 report put the 2025 total at around 285 Maoists killed, reflecting intensified anti-Naxal operations across the Red Corridor states.
