Prime Minister Modi inaugurated India's first semiconductor Assembly, Test, Mark and Package (ATMP) facility by Micron Technology at Sanand, Gujarat on February 28, 2026. The facility represents a combined investment of approximately $2.75 billion by Micron and government partners.

The plant features over 5,00,000 sq ft of cleanroom space — one of the world's largest single-floor assembly and test cleanrooms. It will assemble and test DRAM, NAND flash memory and SSD products, targeting tens of millions of chips in 2026 scaling to hundreds of millions by 2027. The first DRAM module was dispatched to Dell Technologies, with Asus and Qualcomm as initial clients. The facility will generate 5,000 direct and 15,000 indirect jobs.
