On September 1, 2025, T.C.A. Kalyani, a 1991-batch Indian Civil Accounts Service (ICAS) officer, assumed charge as the 29th Controller General of Accounts (CGA) in the Department of Expenditure, Ministry of Finance. A Gold Medalist from Lady Shri Ram College, University of Delhi, she brings over 34 years of government service experience across ministries including Defence, Telecom, Finance, and Home Affairs.

Before this appointment, Kalyani served as Principal Chief Controller of Accounts at the Ministry of Home Affairs, where she oversaw financial management for one of the largest government ministries. She has also held key positions in the Controller General of Defence Accounts and the Department of Telecommunications.

As the Controller General of Accounts, Kalyani will oversee the maintenance of sound accounting systems across the entire Central Government, fiscal analysis and reporting, reconciliation of government cash balances with the Reserve Bank of India, and pension disbursement through public sector banks. The CGA is the apex accounting authority of the Central Government and plays a critical role in maintaining transparency in government financial operations.

The CGA office manages approximately 95,000 government accounts and oversees accounting functions in all central civil ministries and departments, making it a pivotal institution in India's financial governance architecture.
