C.P. Radhakrishnan was elected as the 15th Vice President of India on September 9, 2025, defeating INDIA bloc candidate Justice B. Sudershan Reddy by securing 452 votes against 300. Over 98% of MPs turned out to vote. Born on May 4, 1957, in Tiruppur, Tamil Nadu, Radhakrishnan was serving as the Governor of Maharashtra before his nomination.

A two-time Lok Sabha MP from Coimbatore (1998, 1999), Radhakrishnan began his political career with the RSS and Bharatiya Jana Sangh before joining the BJP. He served as BJP Tamil Nadu state president, Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Textiles, and Governor of Jharkhand, Telangana, and Puducherry. He succeeds Jagdeep Dhankhar.
