President Droupadi Murmu and Botswana's President Duma Gideon Boko visited Mokolodi Nature Reserve on November 13, 2025, witnessing the release of eight cheetahs into quarantine as part of Project Cheetah — the world's first intercontinental large wild carnivore translocation initiative.

Launched in 2022, Project Cheetah has already translocated 8 cheetahs from Namibia (2022) and 12 from South Africa (2023) to Kuno National Park in Madhya Pradesh. The Botswana batch will arrive in India after quarantine procedures. Rajasthan's Mukundra Hills Tiger Reserve was initially considered as an alternate site for cheetah reintroduction.
