Union Home Minister Amit Shah extended Hindi Diwas greetings on September 14, 2025, urging all citizens to respect every Indian language while embracing Hindi as a unifying thread. He stated that 'Indian languages are pillars of our cultural unity' and called for moving towards a self-reliant, self-confident and developed country.

Hindi Diwas, celebrated on September 14, commemorates the adoption of Hindi as an official language on September 14, 1949, under Article 343 of the Constitution. The Constituent Assembly adopted Hindi written in the Devanagari script. Hindi is the most spoken language in India with over 52 crore native speakers and is among the top three most-spoken languages globally.
