Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda released the 10th edition of the Indian Pharmacopoeia (IP 2026) at Dr. Ambedkar International Centre, New Delhi on January 2, 2026. The edition incorporates 121 new monographs, bringing the total to 3,340, with expanded coverage of anti-tubercular, anti-diabetic, and anti-cancer medicines along with 20 blood component standards.

A notable milestone in IP 2026 is the first-time inclusion of monographs for blood components used in transfusion medicine, aligning with provisions under the Drugs and Cosmetics (Second Amendment) Rules, 2020. The Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission (IPC) sets legally binding quality standards for drugs manufactured and marketed in India. The 10th edition reflects India's growing leadership in pharmaceutical manufacturing and regulation globally.
