CoWIN Portal Down Since August 2025, Blocking Vaccination Certificate Access
The CoWIN portal — India's flagship digital platform for COVID-19 vaccination records — has been unavailable since early August 2025, blocking millions of citizens from accessing their vaccination certificates. The portal serves as an end-to-end public health management tool from the national to the vaccinator level.
The outage has caused difficulties for travellers requiring vaccination proof for international travel and for official documentation purposes. The government has not provided a clear timeline for restoration. CoWIN was developed during the pandemic and managed over 220 crore vaccine doses across the country.
