The Geminid meteor shower, one of the brightest astronomical events of the year, peaked over India on the night of December 13-14, 2025. The shower offered up to 100-120 meteors per hour under dark skies, with the best viewing window between 1 AM and 3 AM on December 14.

The Geminids originate from the asteroid 3200 Phaethon, making them unique among major meteor showers as most others are associated with comets. No specialized equipment was needed — it was a naked-eye event. The shower was visible across India, with recommended viewing locations including areas away from urban light pollution. The Geminids are known for producing bright, multi-coloured meteors.
